"Watch out!" I yelled—half a second before I almost disappeared into the ocean floor.

My foot slipped toward a hidden sand pit and my heart jumped into my throat.

I caught myself just in time. 😅 Close call.

A few years back, we were in Carlsbad, California celebrating 30 years of

marriage—swimming, hiking an old mountain mine, watching surfers from the pier,

and hunting for shells along the shore. Our golden lab mix (who looks like Winnie the Pooh, I swear)

came along too and stole the show.
