What do you believe in?

This week my friend John shared with me that as he was going through one of the
Power Lead System’s (PLS) trainings in the back office, he found that Michael Price (the founder of PLS) had shared his beliefs in there.
I found this interesting for a couple reasons.

As you know, you there’s lots to complain about when it comes to other peoples beliefs.
Sometimes what they believe doesn’t seem to make sense or it makes you feel uncomfortable.
I mean nobody wants someone else’s beliefs shoved down your throat.
But there’s a difference between shoving your ideas down someone’s throat and sharing something
that you believe in with someone when there’s a legitimate time and place involved.
I mean, even though Michael Price and I have the same faith, it’s been ages since I read that article and
forgot most of what he said about his faith. Still, he created the Power Lead System and created the training,
so I guess it’s his prerogative to say anything he wants in there. That doesn’t mean we all have to like it.
Let me shared another example. So I'm not a believer in Hinduism. And I also don’t believe in the underlying
religion that Deepak Chopra teaches. But if I was to join a program that Chopra had initiated because
it was doing something good for me and for others, and somewhere inside that program,
Chopra shared his beliefs with me, well I would find that very interesting.
First of all because he was a true believer and thought enough of what he
believed in to see it as valuable to share with others.
Second of all because much of what he says holds real value.
Though I don’t believe in the underlying principles he does,
still I find that many of his believes are parallel to mine and have great insight.
We get lots of people these days who don’t know what they believe in and I’m not here to
attack those people. Only to challenge them with the advice to “know yourself” is valuable stuff.
Instead of telling me what you don’t believe in, why not find out what you do believe in!
I find that believers have passion, they have a reason to live, they have purpose in life and faith
in something bigger then themselves.
No one is a lone “island” and can do everything themselves. And it takes faith in life to pull you further.
The reason people achieve great things is because of their faith is in something, and this encourages them
that they can achieve it.
Faith in a higher power pulls you further forward when you are down,
when you recognize that your abilities are limited.
The person who realizes that they can only achieve so much, doesn’t
give up because they also know that their higher power has got their back.
But someone who only believes in what they can achieve will give up when I see that their actions
can only achieve so much. When those actions add up to foreseeable failure, all that is left is a loss of hope.
I believe in Jesus, not because I was brought up to, or find that religion
is a nice thing to believe in. I believe in Jesus because I believe in what he did for me.
I believe that if I was the only person in the world, that Jesus would go out of his way to do whatever it
took to make sure I could live. Why? Simply because he cares.
You’ve heard it said that Jesus died for all the sins of mankind. If you understand that sin is equivalent
with the doing of things that hurt and kill others than you understand that sin is equivalent to evil.
And if you understand that a good and just God has no evil inside him, then you can understand how
accepting us with the evil we have in our hearts would be like accepting an infection into himself
that would destroy everything that is good.
But God is also love and found a way to eradicate the evil and still find a way to save us.
And that was by Jesus giving his life as payment for that evil (the evil big or small we all have done at
one time or another).
So my belief in Jesus is founded on the selfless giving and love God has for us.
It gives me hope, when there is little hope. It gives me love when all I feel is the hatred of others,
It gives me a reason to push on when I feel depressed and when I lack any sense of purpose.
Of course you don’t have to believe like I do and I hope you don’t feel like I’m shoving my beliefs
down your throat.
Whether you believe in what I do or not, I hope you can be glad that at least I believe in something that pulls
humanity in a better direction and that gives incentive to accomplish great things for the benefit of others.
Now if my beliefs were in something that would cause you or your family physical harm,
then I think that is something that we all would need to stand up against.
