Kayaking with my dog
Published: Fri, 05/06/22

My dog Kiba and I kayaking.
I mean even getting my dog on the kayak in the first place wasn’t exactly easy. I think the only thing that allowed me to be successful getting him on was just that my dog loves me and will listen to most things I tell him to do (lol!).
Once on the water, my dog enjoys sniffing the air for interesting smells, (which there seemed to be a lot of)
We even rowed past a giant seal sitting on the dock. I’m sure that was an interesting smell (one I wouldn’t want to sniff as seals can be quite smelly).
I came as close to the seal as I possibly could but not too close because I didn’t want the seal to get frightened and jump in the water after us.
As you can guess, you can’t afford to have any kind of accident when you have your dog on your kayak with you! All you need is some small accident to make you lose balance and flip you both in the water.
When we got near the rocks, I turned on my flashlight, while I was rowing and looked down into the water at the rocks, sand and shells below. It’s always interesting to see through the water at night.
Eventually, we rode past the first breakwater and into the more open harbor waters. The water there is much deeper and the waves are a little bit bigger (but nothing like out at sea).
We rode past a large green buoy (that stuck high out of the water) that seals and birds like to land and rest on. Then we rode back to the first harbor and passed a couple really cool sailboats (that I’ve always admired) on the way back.
My dog Kiba, stuck his little paws out on the edge of the kayak and looked so cute (but I could just imagine him deciding that this was the perfect position to make a jump for it). So I kept a really sharp eye on those little paws and made sure that he didn’t do anything crazy.
In actual fact, I think he was just stretching his legs a little bit (or at least I hope that’s what it was). I got some good pictures of Kiba on the water with me and I’ve tried to share at least one of these pictures with you. I wish you could see the others too.
When we finally got back, Kiba was so happy to jump up onto the deck and get out of that crazy old boat (and I don’t blame him). I remember a few months ago how he fell into the ocean from the dock and how dramatic it was getting him out! I’m pretty sure even though he was a real trooper about coming on my kayak with me, that he didn’t like the idea of falling in the water.
So there’s my funny story of my dog and I kayaking together. You may be wondering what this have to do with a internet marketing at all and I would point out that there’s a couple good lessons to learn from it:
The first being that you will do a lot for the one you love. In fact I began my whole search into earning online so that I could make life easier and more enjoyable for my wife and I. Traveling the world was always something we wanted to do together and this was the perfect way of making that happen and still be able to earn.
The second thing was teaching my dog “new tricks”. I had to really keep my eye on my dog so that he didn’t unbalance the boat and tip us both into the water. The same can be said about learning a new skill. It takes time and patience to learn and it’s best not to do anything crazy while you’re still learning. You don’t want to do something that will unbalance your life and so you need to go slow, learn the skills and keep your expectations low until you become well acquainted with how everything works.
Like Robert Kiosaki says in the book Rich Dad Poor Dad, "poor people work for money, rich people make money work for them". And the one way you can make money work for you is by developing your skills and learning how to make your business (your asset) work for you.
Of course if you don’t "get on the boat", you’ll never get anywhere.
So here’s your chance. Yup I know it might be a little scary just like it was for my dog to get on my kayak (but I promise you won’t “fall overboard” if you just follow our training!) Learning the right skills is just one, two three.
