Want to ski the Alps too?

I definitely remember getting my first pocket knife. Do you? Mine was black and just a single blade but how I loved that knife. I guess it was because it made me feel a little bit grown up. My parents trusted me to have a knife and to use it carefully.
One of my earliest memories, was of my cousin coming to visit me when we used to live in Denver CO. I remember him whittling something out of wood with his pocket knife and being deeply impressed by how good it was. Maybe that's when I started thinking about getting a knife too (haha). But you know, later when I did have a knife, I never was able to create anything like my cousin!
I also remember getting my first Swiss Army knife when I was in my early twenties. That was cool too and I guess it was because I had always dreamed of having one (probably just because of all the cool gadgets they have).
These days, there's so many imitations of swiss army knives, its a bit hard to get excited about it all but I can tell you this, Swiss Army knives last a lot longer than those imitation kinds and you can feel the quality of them when you have one in your hand. Even the paint job is better somehow too (lol).
Maybe you've seen others have something really cool and would like to have what they have also. For me, reading about people like Tim Ferris having the ability to only work 4 hours a week and spend most of their time skiing the Alps or doing whatever he really wanted (and not having to worry about money), really impressed me. Ecclesiastes talks about this too:
"And I saw that all toil and all achievement spring from one person’s envy of another.
This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind."
So where does that leave us? I think that it really comes down to finding out who you are, what you really love to do and what God created you to do and be. Envying others for what they have will never make you really happy - even when you get the things they have!
Having said that, everyone should have dreams and things they want to achieve.
