Free credits.

Many years ago I started out advertising on Safelists and honestly, I really didn’t know what I was doing.
I came across a program that encouraged me to join about 20 different Safelists and helped me get some free credits to start advertising. The program encouraged me to get at least 1000 hits a week and I worked really hard to do this. In fact, I was clicking away for free credits for hours at a time each day. And yet I really didn’t get any sales.
No matter how hard I promoted, nothing seem to work and I felt discouraged. Fast forward a few years later. I happened to come across cross the Secrets of the Big Dogs program and this helped me to send out my ad to 5 to 10,000 million prospects a month. At this point I was actually getting a few more sales a month. This program really helped me get a grip on my advertising. But success depends on MORE than advertising.
But I wondered why I still couldn’t get consistent sales. I figured that if I was going to do this part or full-time I was going to at least get a sale a day. So I kept increasing my advertising each month by saving up about $100-$200 a month and buying one or two lifetime OTO's (or a "one time offer") a month . By the end of two years I had upgraded in about 100 Safelists.
Now I only had to work about half an hour a day to send out ads to millions of prospects a month. And yet even with all these upgrades, I still was not getting many more sales. I kept wondering what was wrong. Well it took me a few more years to figure that one out.
When I look back now I can tell you that there were two main reasons that I was not making sales. The first was because I was not building my list and the second reason was because I didn’t know how to communicate to my list effectively. Once I figured these two things out, everything changed for me.
But I will give you a heads up. It’s not as easy as it sounds. I tried building a list the easy way with programs that promised me "thousands of new members to email" but this didn’t work no matter what I did or what I joined. Finally I realized that I would need to build my own list from scratch and to build it from people who saw my picture on the capture page they subscribed to. When I finally took my list seriously, things started to change.
It also wasn’t easy learning how to communicate effectively to my list. I tried doing that for a year and this too was without good results. So I can tell you now with certainty that if you want to learn how to make sales effectively you’re going to need a mentor to teach you - just like I did. It made the whole difference in the world.
