Flying over the waves

It was a very dark evening while I was out at sea and the wind shifted from the west 90° and started blowing with gusto from the north.
All of a sudden the wind started whistling along with incredible speed and sent the boat flying over the waves. I was sailing along at such a clip that it was absolutely exhilarating.
I sat there holding the tiller and thinking to myself that it’s been ages since I have felt the boat speed along this fast. I was quite sure we were hitting hull speed as I’ve never seen the boat go faster.
Eventually, I attached a bungee cord on to the tiller (as a sort of auto steering) and went down in the cabin to get some hot water from the thermos and make some hot chocolate. My hands and face were pretty chilly and something hot would really do the trick!
My hands always got cold, sailing at night and I now had three jackets on keeping me warm. When I finally got the hot chocolate made (what with all the rolling around the boat was doing from the waves), the hot chocolate felt so nice and warm in my hands. Drinking it felt nice too going down my throat and warming up my whole insides.
Coming back up into the cockpit, I could see the boat starting to veer off from its heading and realized the bungee cord needed adjusting. So I grabbed the tiller and helped steer the boat back on track as we headed with amazing speed over the large looming waves.

You know getting such a lucky breeze that night was quite an experience. And it happens when your marketing online too.
Sometimes amazing things can happen. You can stumble on a capture page that you just created that works like crazy or get a bunch of sales that you never expected or get a sudden influx of subscribers in one day that it blows away all your past averages!
Things like that can happen, and it’s exhilarating. On the other hand I’ve had my days at sea where the wind died on me completely and when trying to start up the engine - realized that something was wrong with that too. So I was left waiting for hours for the wind to come back out so I could sail home. And that’s how it can feel working online too. Sometimes it seems like nothing is working and all your efforts are going NOWHERE!
More often than not I would say that most days at sea, everything was just normal. No amazing wind but on the other hand, at least I was sailing along at a normal speed. And again this is a typical feeling working online too.
So no matter what you’re experiencing, from pure exhilaration to pure frustration or just the normal grind of a normal day, the thing is you just have to stick with it and keep developing your skills so that your marketing gets better and better - even on those ho-hum days. Eventually it all pays off.
But there will be days when it doesn’t feel like it ever will. I hope this helps you and that you can relate to this part of the story. The thing is, if you don’t get started, you never will experience the sheer exhilaration of success.
